curly horse riding programs offered by Prairie Ponderosa Curlies

Prairie Ponerosa is extremely pleased to present an innovative new program direction..... What do you do when you have unique, hypoallergic, friendly, in-your-face, I-love-all-people kind of horses?

We offer unique get to know horses sessions that we are calling our.....

RECREATIONAL RIDING PROGRAM

*** Program temporarily suspended, please check back***

This program is designed so that we can share our love of horses with others and they in turn get maximum horse time with our friendly HYPOALLERGIC horses. WIN/WIN!

To make things fun and exciting we have picked themes for different age groups and experiences so that everybody can come out and have a GREAT horse adventure. We keep our sessions small (maximum 6 participants) to ensure all get the attention they deserve. Our sessions are designed for a variety of ages and riding levels........fun for all!

Positivity is stressed throughout the learning process and participants are encouraged to be the BEST that they can be, while keeping things fun and rewarding.

In our experience, horses have an uncanny ability to act not only as a remarkable sounding boards and confidants but also are superior assistants to learning to build self esteem, self-confidence, great problem solving techniques, communication skills, cause and effect, and unconditional love.

Since we opened our Ranch to horse lovers, the benefits to us, the visitors/guests and the horses has been rewarding and inspirational. I now understand why Equine Assisted Learning is taking off all over the country......IT WORKS!

Because these are spring sessions - please make sure you have appropriate outer wear for warmth, rain and mild weather - the joys of living in Saskatchewan! If you have questions, please contact me.

Here's your list of things to bring to your session:

Protective helmet (if you are unsure you or your child will embrace riding as their passion, a bike/hockey helmet will work in the interm) (We recommend certified riding helmets).

Riding boots/shoes (NOTE: please make sure boots used have a minimum 1.5 cm heel with a 90 degree 'notch' (not a smooth & rounded heel) It is a good idea to measure across the ball of the sole of the boot - it should not be any bigger than 4.5 inches)

Riding gloves or work gloves Touque or ear muffs

Clothing for outdoors (make sure that it does not matter that these clothes get dirty)

Rubber boots/muck boots

Personal Water Bottle - make it yours!

FOR HORSES & ART DISCOVERY SERIES - you will also need to bring - your favorite art supplies.

FOR FIT FOR FUN - you will also need to bring - cross trainer shoes for walking, hoola hoops, exercise balls, stretch bands, yoga mat, towel, flags, whirly-birds, etc.

Other Services

Private lessons - $25/hr (recreational level only; for competitive coaches please inquire)

Trail riding - $15/hr (min. 3 people; $20/hr individual)

"Get to Know Me" - sessions are offered on a regular basis and we would love for you to join us.....these are informal visiting and some hands-on for the timid.

"Working Holidays" - where you can come and join us for an hour, a day, or a week and join us in our day to day chores/activities. You can help fence, train, groom, tend injuries (if there are any), move horses, take pictures, or enjoy the Land of the Living Skies on horseback. Its our own version of Equine Therapy!

The Ranch would like to welcome visitors or anybody who feels the need for healing or just to spend time with horses over the fence, grooming, or sitting on them to visit us. We are open to hear what dream you have. We understand that not all people are as blessed as we are and cannot own their own magnificent equine. Maybe you don't have the means or the land or the time for full-time horse ownership but would love to spend time with horses. We would love to help that happen for you. Give us a call and we can arrange a meeting between you and your new best friend. We love to meet and visit with others who love horses.

We also offer to test allergies for people. Please bring your medication and an open mind. We do have other non-curly horses and other animals on our ranch so please call ahead so that we can separate a horse for you to test on.
